power of one student « Result #3 on Nov 15, 2009, 11:47am »
Emerald Coast Martial Arts Academy Of Ft. Walton Beach Grand Master Joe Cayer Life enrichment Instructor
To all my kyoshi students-The power of one student
They sit before you in a new white GI with an empty cup waiting to be filled. Anticipation is high. Their belt, blinding white, reflects their present-not their future state. You are the focus. Our audience is thirsty and in need. A student is your canvas that you will paint with your knowledge and wisdom. Have you prepared yourself for this moment? The consequences are crucial. For each student will create a ripple effect especially outside your dojo walls as time moves on. Your ideas and teachings will echo in future teachings. Your influence will be determined on how you have prepared yourself up to this point. Our days of influence are short. We must move and act with boldness. You must have a conviction that is mesmerizing. Their is a lot at stake. Your words are not just something that blurt out and stick up on the ceiling. No, they resound in the ears of the fresh. These words revisit the student as his learning advances and the parables become clear to them. You have limited time to make first impressions and even move limited time to influence one to not only be on the path of the straight and narrow but to be a trail blazer. A leader. Teaching conformity in society to a new student is minimum wage. Your wisdom is not exercised in this manner. Direct your focus. Review your Mindset. You must lead the ones that will follow. Feed the ones that will eat. Rise up the ones that will rise to all occasions. So that one day your influence on this one student is compounded and your name is whispered in reverence not jest. For one day the student will also become the teacher. Your actions and the result of your actions are seeds. Will your seeds grow prosperity and integrity or will they manifest a liability to society? Reflect now on your teachings. Teach-adjust-grow-teach again. Oss, Grand Master Cayer

Unarmed Against a Blade
People study the martial arts for any number of reasons. The type of art you study probably reflects that reason. If you are sports oriented, you probably aren’t studying aikido or krav maga. While all martial arts serve a purpose all aren’t created equal. Some lend themselves better to self defense than others. Some are better for self discovery while others are better for competition. My emphasis in my study is combat, self defense and personal security. I had my martial arts foundations developed in a very combative system, more by coincidence than personal intent. That influence and the fact that I grew up in a violence ridden part of a very rough city shaped my philosophy concerning the martial arts. Having become a Christian and a pastor further shaped my thoughts involving self defense and personal protection I grew up fighting and I was good at it. In the neighborhood I grew up in violence was a fact of life. No one questioned it. Every person dealt with it as best they could. I was gang related for a good portion of my life. Back in the day guns weren’t the weapon of choice on the streets. They weren’t as easy to come by for kids back then. We were more prone to make zip guns than to have a manufactured fire arm. Knives and other concealable weapons were preferred to guns. They were more readily available and they were more easily concealed. Being black in the inner city of Chicago meant you could be stopped and searched at any time. More often than not knives were confiscated. You might get your butt whipped for carrying one but it usually wouldn’t land you in jail. Consequently everyone on the streets carried some type of bladed weapon. There were exceptions. Some guys carried brass knuckles, a sap (blackjack) or some other such weapon but knives were more common. In my neighborhood you had to be able to do two things. You had to be able to throw hands (box) and you had to be able to use a knife. Lacking in either skill got you hurt or killed in the streets. I began studying the martial arts formally at age twelve. I also boxed for the Chicago Park District. When I started jiu jitsu and later karate classes I went in knocking more advanced students on their rear ends. I was street tough and I knew how to fight. The only reason I was there was because my father enrolled me to curb my aggression level. The one thing I wanted to garner from those classes was to be able to disarm a person with a knife. I like to keep current with the trends in the martial arts. I like some of the reality fighting arts. I’m somewhat more dubious about Brazilian Jujitsu and especially MMA. By the way, MMA is nothing new. I did that when it was illegal and we fought for small purses and side bets. Of course the competition wasn’t as good but those really were no holds barred. The only rule was you couldn’t use a weapon. Other than that there were no rules. You fought until someone was incapacitated or rendered unconscious. There was no tapping out. You fought until one of the fighters couldn’t continue. As I think back on it I see how foolish that type of thing was. At the time I was young and thought I was invincible and I needed the money. The fights were brutal, bloody free for alls. Unfortunately, much of the MMA I’ve seem is too similar. Too often it seems to be brutality simply for the sake of brutality. By the way, that kind of thing would get you killed on the streets. More often than not the average assailant will either be armed or he’ll have friends for backup. If you think that you’re going to stand toe to toe and trade blows with a street thug you’ll very probably be sorely disappointed. Thugs don’t fight fair. If they didn’t think they had a distinct advantage chances are they wouldn’t be confronting you. In a lot of the disclaimers accompanying reality training a student is warned that his chances aren’t good against a person with a knife. If the person is trained or skilled with his weapon that’s probably true. I have yet to find the trained martial artist that can take a weapon from me. So what does that mean? We obviously can’t curl up and die in the face of a knife attack. The best defense against a knife is foot techniques. Use those size twelves to get out of Dodge. Fighting should always be our last resort anyway. You fight only if you’re left with no choice. That’s especially true if your opponent is armed. Don’t fool yourself. An armed person is always more dangerous than an unarmed person even if that unarmed person is trained. Still, if you have no choice and there’s no way to make a quick exit your only alternative is to defend yourself. It isn’t the best case scenario but when it’s all you’re left with you have to deal with the issue. This isn’t a set of techniques against a knife wielding attacker. Hopefully, if you’re reading this you have some training to cover such a situation. Technique alone won’t help you win in such a situation. Whatever skill you have has to be coupled with courage and a willingness to do whatever it is you have to do. Unless you are a police officer or work in some such similar vocation forget knife disarms. Disarms are designed to deal with a lethal situation with as little harm to the assailant as possible. Life and death combat doesn’t include compassion for your opponent. When faced with an armed assailant your purpose has to be to destroy or totally disable your opponent. Anything less than that is going to get you seriously hurt or killed. I have taught self defense and anti rape classes over the years. In many of those classes I have had women walk out because the techniques were too brutal. Combat isn’t ballet. Combat is brutal by nature. If you aren’t ready to try to kill or seriously injure an armed assailant you’ve lose before the fight starts. Believe me, if he is trying to attack you with a knife, your safety and well being is not one of his primary concerns. His intent is to hurt, seriously injure or kill you. Anything less than total commitment on your part will help him in his efforts. Is it possible to face an armed assailant and come away unscathed? Unlikely if he knows what he’s doing but it is possible to defend yourself and discourage or even defeat such an attacker. Forget the odds against you. You aren’t playing the odds. You’re trying to survive. If you’ve trained realistically for something like this, you already have the tools. You have to be willing to use them brutally and viciously. You can’t win a fight by being defensive. You have to defend yourself but at some point you’re going to have to go on the attack. You’ll have to find a way to initiate an attack or counterattack your opponant’s attack. You can’t keep evading and blocking his attacks forever. If you don’t do something to discourage him or hurt him he’ll keep trying until he finally connects. You have to fight back. You’re more dangerous with a weapon. Use whatever is available. Don’t fight him empty handed if you don’t have to. Use the element of surprise. Throw something at him. Spit in his face. Startle him with a loud unexpected noise. If you’re forced to fight empty handed fight smart. Forget about pressure points. Most of them are too small to access on an armed and moving assailant. In that type of fight there are three areas of attack. If he can’t see he can’t fight. Attack his eyes. Compromise his vision. If he can’t breath he can’t fight. Compromise his ability to breath. If given the opportunity, attack the throat or the solar plexus. If he can’t stand he can’t fight. Attack his foundation. That includes his insteps, toes, ankles, knees and shins. Often these areas can be accessed with minimum risk to you. If you can get access to a joint or a limb go for bone breaks or joint destructions rather than attempting a disarm. His personal safety ceases to be your concern when he threatened you with a weapon. Until he is incapacitated or subdued err on the side of maximum damage. Lastly, expect to be injured. If by some miracle you aren’t, well and good but don’t go in expecting to walk away unscathed. If you are cut or stabbed your life depends on your willingness to keep fighting. He isn’t going to stop because you’re hurt. You have to fight back if you hope to survive such an encounter. In an encounter of this kind your survival depends on your willingness to not only defend yourself but to hurt, injure or kill your assailant. I’m both a Christian and a minister. I don’t advocate unnecessary violence but you have a right to defend and preserve your life. It’s your duty to protect you family and loved ones. There’s no guarantee that you’ll win such a conflict even if you fight with all of your skill and courage but I guarantee you that you won’t live if you aren’t willing to fight back. If you’re willing to take a punch in the nose and turn the other cheek that’s your choice. You may take a beating but you have a good chance of surviving that type of attack but when that same opponent is armed, turning the other cheek isn’t a viable option. If you choose such a course your death won’t be just murder. It’ll be suicide. I’ve had the fortune or misfortune of being involved in several knife fights. I’ve also had occasion to face several such opponents unarmed. I’ve been both cut and stabbed and still managed to take down or get away from the assailant. On the other hand I have actually managed to defeat an armed opponent without being injured. Whether those instances were because of my high level of skill or my opponant’s ineptitude is open to argument but I’m still here to tell the story. I have no illusions about my martial abilities. Surviving such an encounter has as much to do with God’s grace and mercy as with my skill or my opponant’s lack thereof. I would never willingly find myself in such a situation if given any choice. My solution for this is to go armed. Because of several surgeries I carry a cane (and I’m not afraid to use it) but I’d probably carry one even if I didn’t need it. I would advise you to train realistically to develop usable skills. I’d further advise you to develop your killer instinct and develop a level of fighting aggression. Forget about fancy or complex techniques. They probably won’t work when you need them most. Keep your techniques strait forth and simple. If you have to defend yourself be willing to take it as far as you have to. Against an armed assailant you have to be willing to take it all the way if you have to. You aren’t fighting for a medal or a trophy. You’re fighting for your life. You have to fight like your very life depends on it. Forget about fighting fair. There’s no such thing as a fair fight. If you’re going to fight then fight. Don’t half fight or kinda fight. Give it everything you’ve got with conviction and lethal intent. There are no runner ups in a knife encounter. If you win, the prize is your life. If you lose… Well let me put it this way; I hope you’re right with God. In conclusion let me say this. The best fight is the one you can avoid. Next to that the second best is the one you win. Not managing either of those the third best fight is the one you survive. In the end that’s what it’s all about. If you don’t survive the encounter you can’t take it back to the drawing board. All I can say is if you must die in such a situation sell your life dearly. Death is always a possibility. The ancient samurai went into every battle expecting to die. If death proved to be inevitable he sought to die well. Train hard and train realistically, my brethren. Go with God. Dr. Donald Miskel

The Axis of Idiots" From the Podium: J. D. Pendry, Retired Sergeant Major, USMC
This retired USMC Sgt. Major has his Stuff together.
Jimmy Carter, you are the father of the Islamic Nazi movement. You threw the Shah under the bus, welcomed the Ayatollah home, and then lacked the spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy and our people hostage. You're the "runner-in-chief."
Bill Clinton, you played ring around the Lewinsky while the terrorists were at war with us. You got us into a fight with them in Somalia and then you ran from it. Your weak-willed responses to the USS Cole and the First Trade Center Bombing and Our Embassy Bombings emboldened the killers. Each time you failed to respond adequately, they grew bolder, until 9/11/2001.
John Kerry, dishonesty is your most prominent attribute. You lied about American Soldiers in Vietnam. Your military service, like your life, is more fiction than fact. You've accused our military of terrorizing women and children in Iraq. You called Iraq the wrong war, wrong place, wrong time, and the same words you used to describe Vietnam. You're a fake! You want to run from Iraq and abandon the Iraqis to murderers just as you did to the Vietnamese. Iraq, like Vietnam, is another war that you were for, before you were against it.
John Murtha, you said our military was broken. You said we can't win militarily in Iraq. You accused United States Marines of cold-blooded murder without proof and said we should redeploy to Okinawa. Okinawa, John? And the Democrats call you their military expert! Are you sure you didn't suffer a traumatic brain injury while you were off building your war hero resume? You're a sad, pitiable, corrupt, and washed up old fool. You're not a Marine, sir. You wouldn't amount to a good pimple on a real Marine's ass. You're a phony and a disgrace. Run away, John.
Dick Durbin, you accused ou r Soldiers at Guantanamo of being Nazis, tenders of Soviet style gulags and as bad as the regime of Pol Pot, who murdered two million of his own people after your party abandoned Southeast Asia to the Communists. Now you want to abandon the Iraqis to the same fate. History was not a good teacher for you, was it? Lord help us! See Dick run.
Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Carl Levine, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Russ Feingold, Pat Leahy, Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, the Hollywood Leftist morons, et al, ad nauseam: Every time you stand in front of television cameras and broadcast to the Islamic Nazis that we went to war because our President lied, that the war is wrong and our Soldiers are torturers, that we should leave Iraq, you give the Islamic butchers - the same ones that tortured and mutilated American Soldiers - cause to think that we'll run away again, and all they have to do is hang on a little longer. It is inevitable that we, the infidels, will have to defeat the Islamic jihadists. Better to do it now on their turf, than later on ours after they have gained both strength and momentum.
American news media, the New York Times particularly: Each time you publish stories about national defense secrets and our intelligence gathering methods, you become one united with the sub-human pieces of camel dung that torture and mutilate the bodies of American Soldiers. You can't strike up the courage to publish cartoons, but you can help Al Qaeda destroy my country. Actually, you are more dangerous to us than Al Qaeda is. Think about that each time you face Mecca to admire your Pulitzer.
You are America's 'AXIS OF IDIOTS.' Your Collective Stupidity will destroy us. Self-serving politics and terrorist-abetting news scoops are more important to you than our national security or the lives of innocent civilians and Soldiers. It bothers you that defending ourselves gets in the way of your elitist sport of politics and your ignorant editorializing.. There is as much blood on your hands as is on the hands of murdering terrorists. Don't ever doubt that. Your frolics will only serve to extend this war as they extended Vietnam. If you want our Soldiers home as you claim, knock off the crap and try supporting your country ahead of supporting your silly political aims and aiding our enemies.
Yes, I'm questioning your patriotism. Your loyalty ends with self. I'm also questioning why you're stealing air that decent Americans could be breathing. You don't deserve the protection of our men and women in uniform. You need to run away from this war, this country. Leave the war to the people who have the will to see it through and the country to people who are willing to defend it.
Our country has two enemies: Those who want to destroy us from the outside and those who attempt it from within.
Semper Fi, J. D.. Pendry - Sergeant Major, USMC, Retired
This is a savvy man. He has nailed it down pretty good. Too bad it won't do any good.

And what is worse, is that the government KNOWS about a number of terrorist training camps spread across the US, for the training of Muslim terrorists. There is one in Ohio somewhere, I wish I knew where it was... I know there are camps in Kentucky, West Virginia, Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, South Dakota, Wyoming, and almost every other state in the union, all overseen by a particular sheik and imam that has literally flouted it in public that these places exist! Re: Next Terrorist Attack « Result #11 on Oct 10, 2009, 7:51am »
Australia's a little more paranoid than the U.S. because of the Hilton and Bali bombings. Public garbage bins have been removed, train stations have constant PA announcements to report unattended bags, and Sydney is riddled with closed circuit cameras. Of course, that didn't stop the crew of The Chaser from getting to the last checkpoint at APEC, and when the congenital idiots at Cityrail used the wrong grease on their trains (which when burnt smells EXACTLY like the aromatic they add to town gas) and caused a gas scare, we found out that the official plan to evacuate the city in case of a terrorist attack, well, there WASN'T one. AUM Supreme Truth Sect also manufactured and tested the sarin for the Tokyo subway bombings here, and no-one thought flocks of dead sheep were noteworthy. We're plenty paranoid, just lumbered with beuracratic incompetance and bloody-minded indolance.

Next Terrorist Attack « Result #12 on Oct 10, 2009, 4:21am »
Juval Aviv was the Israeli Agent upon whom the movie, 'Munich' was based. He was Golda Meir's bodyguard - she appointed him to track down and bring to justice the Palestinian terrorists who took the Israeli athletes hostage and killed them during the Munich Olympic Games.
In a lecture in New York City a few weeks ago, he shared information that EVERY American needs to know -- but that our government has not yet shared with us.
He predicted the London subway bombing on the Bill O'Reilly show on Fox News stating publicly that it would happen within a week. At the time, O'Reilly laughed and mocked him saying that in a week he wanted him back on the show. But, unfortunately, within a week the terrorist attack had occurred.
Juval Aviv gave intelligence (via what he had gathered in Israel and the Middle East ) to the Bush Administration about 9/11 a month before it occurred. His report specifically said they would use planes as bombs and target high profile buildings and monuments. Congress has since hired him as a security consultant.
Now for his future predictions. He predicts the next terrorist attack on the U.S. Will occur within the next few months.
Forget hijacking airplanes, because he says terrorists will NEVER try and hijack a plane again as they know the people onboard will never go down quietly again. Aviv believes our airport security is a joke -- that we have been reactionary rather than proactive in developing strategies that are truly effective.
For example:
1) Our airport technology is outdated. We look for metal, and the new explosives are made of plastic.
2) He talked about how some idiot tried to light his shoe on fire. Because of that, now everyone has to take off their shoes. A group of idiots tried to bring aboard liquid explosives. Now we can't bring liquids on board. He says he's waiting for some suicidal maniac to pour liquid explosive on his underwear; at which point, security will have us all traveling naked! Every strategy we have is reactionary.
3) We only focus on security when people are heading to the gates. Aviv says that if a terrorist attack targets airports in the future, they will target busy times on the front end of the airport when/where people are checking in. It would be easy for someone to take two suitcases of explosives, walk up to a busy check-in line, ask a person next to them to watch their bags for a minute while they run to the restroom or get a drink and then detonate the bags BEFORE security even gets involved. In Israel , security checks bags BEFORE people can even ENTER the airport.
Aviv says the next terrorist attack here in America is imminent and will involve suicide bombers and non-suicide bombers in places where large groups of people congregate. (I. E., Disneyland, Las Vegas casinos, big cities New York, San Francisco, Chicago, etc.) and that it will also include shopping malls, subways in rush hour, train stations, etc., as well as rural America this time ( Wyoming , Montana , etc.).
The attack will be characterized by simultaneous detonations around the country (terrorists like big impact), involving at least 5-8 cities, including rural areas.
Aviv says terrorists won't need to use suicide bombers in many of the larger cities, because at places like the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, they can simply valet park a car loaded with explosives and walk away.
Aviv says all of the above is well known in intelligence circles, but that our U. S. Government does not want to 'alarm American citizens' with the facts. The world is quickly going to become 'a different place', and issues like 'global warming' and political correctness will become totally irrelevant.
On an encouraging note, he says that Americans don't have to be concerned about being nuked. Aviv says the terrorists who want to destroy America will not use sophisticated weapons. They like to use suicide as a front-line approach. It's cheap, it's easy, it's effective; and they have an infinite abundance of young militants more than willing to 'meet their destiny'.
He also says the next level of terrorists, over which America should be most concerned, will not be coming from abroad. But will be, instead, 'homegrown' - having attended and been educated in our own schools and universities right here in the U. S. He says to look for 'students' who frequently travel back and forth to the Middle East .. These young terrorists will be most dangerous because they will know our language and will fully understand the habits of Americans; but that we Americans won't know/understand a thing about them.
Aviv says that, as a people, Americans are unaware and uneducated about the terrorist threats we will, inevitably, face. America still has only have a handful of Arabic and Farsi speaking people in our intelligence networks and Aviv says it is critical that we change that fact SOON.
So, what can America do to protect itself? >From an intelligence perspective, Aviv says the U.S. needs to stop relying on satellites and technology for intelligence. We need to, instead, follow Israel 's, Ireland 's and England 's hands-on examples of human intelligence, both from an infiltration perspective as well as to trust 'aware' citizens to help. We need to engage and educate ourselves as citizens; however, our U. S. government continues to treat us, its citizens, 'like babies'. Our government thinks we 'can't handle the truth' and are concerned that we'll panic if we understand the realities of terrorism. Aviv says this is a deadly mistake.
Aviv recently created/executed a security test for our Congress, by placing an empty briefcase in five well-traveled spots in f ive major cities. The results? Not one person called 911 or sought a policeman to check it out...in fact, in Chicago, someone tried to steal the briefcase!
In comparison, Aviv says that citizens of Israel are so well 'trained' that an unattended bag or package would be reported in seconds by citizen(s) who know to publicly shout, 'Unattended Bag!' The area would be quickly & calmly cleared by the citizens themselves. But, unfortunately, America hasn't been yet 'hurt enough' by terrorism for their government to fully understand the need to educate its citizens or for the government to understand that it's their citizens who are, inevitably, the best first-line of defense against terrorism.
Aviv also was concerned about the high number of children here in America who were in preschool and kindergarten after 9/11, who were 'lost' without parents being able to pick them up, and about our schools that had no plan in place to best care for the students until parents could get there. (In New York City , this was days, in some cases!)
He stresses the importance of having a plan, that's agreed upon within your family, to respond to in the event of a terrorist emergency. He urges parents to contact their children's schools and demand that the schools, too, develop plans of actions, as they do in Israel .
Does your family know what to do if you can't contact one another by phone? Where would you gather in an emergency? He says we should all have a plan that is easy enough for even our youngest children to remember and follow.
Aviv says that the U. S. government has in force a plan that, in the event of another terrorist attack, will immediately cut-off EVERYONE's ability to use cell phones, blackberries, etc., as this is the preferred communication source used by terrorists and is often the way that their bombs are detonated.
How will you communicate with your loved ones in the event you cannot speak? You need to have a plan.
If you believe what you have just read, then you must feel compelled to send to every concerned parent or guardian, grandparents, uncles, aunts, whatever and whomever. Nothing will happen if you choose not to do so, but in the event it does happen, this particular email will haunt you... "I should have sent this to...", but I didn't believe it and just deleted it as so much trash!!!

Unlike a "Hall of Fame" these awards recognize a Martial Artists' dedication to the arts. We have decided to add to the Legion of Honor Awards in the spirit of the martial arts, starting with a Military Service Award, awarded to martial artists who have served in the armed forces, A Michael DePasquale Sr's Gold Shield Award, awarded to martial artists who are active or retired law enforcement officers, and a Young Warriors Spirit Award, for those under the age of 16, by instructor's nomination only! With a true progression of titles we are using the well known warriors and time and place we have read about in history. After all, we are modern day warriors practicing the code of the bushido. This was always the philosophy taught by our founder O’sensei Michael De Pasquale Sr.
We will be having a Special Tribute ceremony, for our Brother, honored Vietnam Vet, and IFOJJ board member Joe Bonacci who passed away on Sept. 6th 2009. He was a special person and will always remain in our hearts. God Bless you always Joe! May you rest in peace!

Joe Lewis said, "He was Loved by All", at his tribute at the time of his death in 2006. If there were ever a saint in the martial arts community it would be Michael De Pasquale Sr. Not because of his Martial Art leadership and pioneering, but because of his honesty, integrity, loyalty, and thoughtfulness to others. This truly was the best year yet. I would like to thank those people directly for making this event possible this year, Joe Diaco, Roger Roy, Larry Houck, Jackie Pence, Michelle Albergo, Darlene Robson and Ross Greenberg for his great work on the certificate designs. There are a lot of people that make this event run more smoothly, The IFOJJ headquarters wish to thank all of them. A lot of martial artist at this event also chipped in to buy Mrs. De Pasquale a beautiful Japanese statue, which Soke Joe Miller presented after a the happy birthday sing along and a presentation of her birthday cake. Street Warrior DVD « Result #23 on Sept 8, 2009, 10:19am »
Street Warrior DVD on sale now! Firstly congrats to all the winners of the last Action Extreme DVD competition where we gave away 10 copies of Bodyguard new beginning. We will be running the third AE competition with Underground Movie in a few weeks time. But this week FAN is all about Street Warrior.
Street Warrior: “Let’s See Some Blood!” That’s the clarion call to fight from illegal fight promoter Mr Pope in the underground action movie ‘Street Warrior’ and yes plenty of blood is spilt in this very entertaining and fast-paced movie. The rise of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) as a global phenomenon has seen the gladiators that enter the octagon become media celebrities to rival professional wrestlers and movie stars so it was only a matter of time before we saw movies about MMA featuring MMA stars start to hit our screens. This new wave of fight movie is very much as throwback to the style and storylines of the vintage action films of the 80’s that used to star Jean Claude Van Damme or Don Wilson, except this time around they utilise the vast array of modern mixed martial arts techniques to create a gritty, real-world fight scenario. A POINT OF: Clarification & Reconcillation « Result #25 on Aug 27, 2009, 6:37pm »
A POINT OF: Clarification & Reconcillation
Grandmaster Lawrence Day and I would like to address the fact it is sad that a friendly misunderstanding or a few drug culture knuckleheads in this world have intentionally caused a good man like Baron Sheppard and his family undeserved grief.
Just for the record so there is no confusion on this point Barron Shepherd is not now nor has he ever been a member of the BDFS, althought a courtesy of membership is still extended to him. He graciously declined the offer in the past in order to maintain his third party-arm's distance status and objectivity, which we at the BDFS commend and appreciate upon our discovery he is a martial art researcher involved in a documentary on the BDFS that drew him to us.
Grandmaster Day and I consider him a friend and friends are bound to have their differences and we have mixed words in the past but that is what friends do. Lacking the tone and context in which something is said or written this can cause outsiders to view things incorrectly - Barron might as well too but let me assure you no enmity exists between us and him.
Barron Sheppard is a superb martial artist and researcher of considerable skill and repute. He has attended and hosted many seminars where the event's publicity pictures has led the usual merry band of internet trolls to leap to the conclusion that automatically makes him a member of our martial arts fraternity. We have had our picture taken with Santa Cluaus so I guess that automatcally means our Santa is a BDFS member and obviously a Ninja, too! Given Santa's stealthiness, of course.
Simply being in a picture with Santa Claus don’t make you an elf. Nor does standing next to a teacher make you his disciple nor a member of his school. It is hoped that this will clear up any misconception.
The Official and ORIGINAL Black Dragon Fighting Society should not to be confused or lumped in with the son of a former BDFS member (from not Chicago) but Fall River, Mass. The son has never trained with us nor is there any record of his even being ranked by his father. Apparently, the poor boy in his grief suffers from delusions of grandeur that has erupted in even dampening the memory of our Society's original founding president and our original members.
One member cannot will over an entire Society (that is why we use the name society), nor speak for it.
The fact is we unfortunately cannot control or erase from Barron Sheppard's memory the harm caused by the malicious twisting of any imagined discrepancy into an insult by the mindless children and impotent young men who have found themselves drunkenly empowered by the internet and its lack of accountability due to poor internet laws. For this Sheppard and anyone else injured in such a a manner has the REAL BDFS and my personal support to put an end to such abuses. That is why we as a fraternity exist - a few good men and women gathered together committed to excellence, as warriors committed to righting wrongs.

Covered in Glory
The sub-title may have been ‘Underground’ to reflect the show and Fighters Inc’s association with the new British Martial Arts Movie of the same name just released on DVD but this year ‘Pain and Glory’ actually emerged from the shadows of the mighty Seni show to prove that it can stand alone as a strong fightshow brand in its own right. This was due in no small part to the four man tournaments across MMA, K-1 rules and Kickboxing that rooted a spectacular and truly mixed martial arts showcase at the historic York Hall in London. Backed by the now expected production values and ring entrances associated with a Fighters Inc experience ‘Pain and Glory’ 09 saw a card of depth and quality and a K-1 rules tournament that exceeded everyone’s expectations. Discover the new Pain and Glory crowned champions by reading the full report by clicking here. Images from the show are at Rawsport.tv

Emerald Coast Martial Arts Academy Of Ft. Walton Beach Master Joe Cayer -7th Dan Life enrichment-Shorei-Gojo-Taiho Jitsu-Iai Do-Shotokan Karate Do-Law Enforcement Tactical Training-Women's Self Defense
To all my Sensei students-The power of one student
They sit before you in a new white GI with an empty cup waiting to be filled. Their belt, blinding white, reflects their present-not their future state. Teach-readjust-teach again. Oss, Master Cayer

Happy 4th of July! « Result #38 on Jul 2, 2009, 2:33pm »
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
Let today be a day of acceptance, compassion, and understanding. Let us feel our bond of humanity with each of our planet's six billion souls. Put aside color, geography, wealth, education, political and religious beliefs, and feel the throb of each human heart in your heart. Never let your compassionate connection with all creation be limited by your politics, your language, or your traditions. Know that Spirit transcends all cultural differences and embraces all creation.
Affirmation: I choose acceptance and compassion toward all humanity.
Have a great 4th of July Weekend!

Sigung Dacascos and Hanshi Harms in Hamburg
The Hawaii-born Sifu Al Dacascos is the founder of the globally successful martial arts-style Wun Hop Kuen Do. Since childhood he trained with many famous martial arts experts and fought against the best of the best in the martial arts world. Many of his students are form the top of the martial arts scene today, or are well-known Action-Casts.
From 1975 to 1982 he taught and lived in Hamburg / Germany. From this period the German Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster Hermann Harms knows those living martial arts legend. Both are via the Internet and email in good contact. In the year 2007 Hanshi Harms received from Sigung Dacascos and the Wun Hop Kuen Do Association International the “KOA- Award” as a symbol of perseverance and steadfastness. On Sunday the 7th June Hermann Harms traveled to Hamburg to an appointment with Sigung Dacascos, who spend time at the “Dacascos Open” witch took place this year at 29th times.
It was a very joyful meeting. During common lunch, nice stories, funny anecdotes and experiences were exchanged and private things discussed.
Both teach a straight self-defence system. Sigung Dacascos suggested a common self-defense seminar. This could take place at the one or on the other side of the Atlantic. For constant reminder Grandmaster Harms presented one of his self-created Bu-Shi-Do in an ancient German writing. Bu-Shi-Do is the honour code of the samurai, the inner attitude of the martial arts teacher.
Both Grandmasters are members of the Brotherhood of Martial Arts Instructors (BoMAI) and looking forward to another joyful meeting.

UFC Fighter - MMA and Street Fighting Techniques and Tactics These are a compilation of techniques from top UFC Fighters such as Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, Shonie Carter, Joe Lauzon and WEC Champion Razor Rob McCullough. These techniques are essential for MMA and can also be used effectively in a street combat situation. All fighting techniques shown are high percentage MMA and Street Fighting Techniques.
Chuck Liddell MMA Striking Techniques Striking with Underhooks
Muay Thai Clinch for MMA In this video Chuck Liddell shows you how to obtain and use the Muay Thai Clinch for Mixed Martial Arts Combat. The Muay Thai clinch is also very effective in a street combat situation. You can deliver powerful elbows and kness, as well as direct their body very easily. The only concern would be if they have a weapon available to them such as a knife. Since the opponent's arms are still free, they would be able to grab a knife if they have one. Kicking for Mixed Martial Arts Kicks can be a devestating weapon in MMA and in the street. When in a street combat situation, you rarely want to kick above the waist, especially if you are not accustomed to kicking to the head or kicking high. But that does not mean you cannot employ kicking techniques in a street situation. Chuck Liddell goes over his strategy and kicking techniques for Mixed Martial Arts Fighting. Chuck Liddell's Tools of the Trade for Kicks This Kicking for MMA and Street Fighting video highlights some Chuck Liddell's Tools of the Trade for Kicking for Real Combat Chuck Liddell Ground and Pound Striking Drills Ground and Pound for MMA Fighting is a very popular topic. Many people think that is not a "skill", just instinct; when actually utilizing ground and pound effectively takes work and drills. This video shows ways to train Ground and Pound fighting tactics.
Chuck Liddell Defense from Strikes on the Bottom No one ever wants to get caught on the bottom taking damage either in a MMA Fight or Street Fight. Chuck Liddell shows you some ways you can defend yourself against strikes from the top. Chuck Liddell Defense from Strikes on the Bottom No one ever wants to get caught on the bottom taking damage either in a MMA Fight or Street Fight. Chuck Liddell shows you some ways you can defend yourself against strikes from the top. Joe Lauzon Boxing For MMA Techniques Boxing for MMA - Uppercut in MMA. The uppercut is one of the most powerful and devasating punches in Mixed Martial Arts. It is a very effective punch when you are dirty boxing or in the clinch position. Learn this punch and it can quickly change your MMA fight game as well as help defend yourself in a street fight situation. Striking for Takedowns If you're like me, you would rather not stand up and strike with your opponent. You'd like to take them down and either damage them during the takedown or finish them quickly on the ground. That philosophy is true whether I am in an MMA situation or Street Fight Situation. In this video Joe Lauzon and his brother Dan Lauzon discuss the philosophy and strategy about striking for takedowns. Striking from Top Guard Position If you face an opponent who is comfortable fighting off their back in the guard position, this video will be a great tool. Joe Lauzon shows you how to effectively strike from the top guard position. Tito Ortiz Ultimate Fighting Techniques Striking from the Bottom Guard Position Former UFC Champion Tito Ortiz shows you how to strike and damage your opponent from the bottom guard position. Tito utilizes one of my favorite guard defense positions, the scissor guard or cross guard. Shonie Carter - MMA and Street Boxing Techniques Defense and Drills from MMA Boxing Shonie Carter shows you how to defend against common punches and attacks in a MMA or Street Fight. Included are drills how to improve your defense against strikes. Rob McCullough - Muay Thai for MMA Striking Techniques Devestating Muay Thai Elbows Learn to use one or two of the most devestating weapons your body has to offer - your elbows. Great for disabling an opponent in a street fight or beating one dowin in a MMA Fight. Strikes with Punches and Elbows Use both punches and elbows together in this video by Rob McCullough. Knees from the Muay Thai Clinch Knee strikes from the Thai Clinch are effective in MMA and in the street. You can deliver powerful blows to the body and head with ease.

Marina di Carrara is closed to beautiful Pisa, Florence, Lucca and above all "the Cinque Terre" (under the Patronage of Unesco),they are a kingdom of nature and wild scents maintained as in the past. To visit the Cinque Terre means to visit five villages suspended between sea and earth, clinging on to cliffs and surrounded by green hills.
And again Lunigiana a very particular land that keeps intact the evidences of its feudal history and, at the same time, preserves an unspoilt nature, quite completely free from industrial pollution.
Genoa with the famous Acquario di Genova, Europe's largest aquarium is one of Genoa's biggest draws and a must-see for travelers with children. The structure alone is remarkable, resembling a ship and built alongside a pier in the old harbor.
And Turin with its great history and the world famous Egyptian Museum.
The Museo delle Antichità Egizie is the only museum other than the Cairo Museum that is dedicated solely to Egyptian art and culture.
Many international scholars, since the decipherer of Egyptian hieroglyphs Jean-François Champollion, who came to Turin in 1824, spend much time pouring over the collections.
It was Champollion who famously wrote, “The road to Memphis and Thebes passes through Turin”.

The Power of the Art of Submission « Result #48 on May 6, 2009, 4:25am »
Emerald Coast Martial Arts Academy Of Ft. Walton Beach Master Joe Cayer -7th Dan Taiho Jitsu-Iai Do-Shotokan-Law Enforcement Tactical Training _____________________________1-866-636-3309_______________________________
The Power of the Art of Submission
For some, the first read of the title promotes thoughts of being a doormat for someone. Or perhaps that you are some how less if you are in submission to someone. The thought it evokes is being subdued or held down (mentally or emotionally). No, the power of submission is received by the student when he is in the learning phase. When you are stopped by a law enforcement officer you are temporarily under his submission while he performs his "work". You are not less by being in your role. He is not "more" by being in his role. The power of submission allows a flow of learning to occur to the student without the hindrance of opposition. No challenge is occurring so the sensei can depart not only the spoken words of his wisdom but also allows the student the room to think outside the box and use his own creative juices to decipher the gain. Many times the student is so combative with the learning process that the sensei can only work so much magic. An invisible wall is thrown up and the transfer of information slows or stops. This often seen in new students. The student thinks the sensei is inept to good teaching and he tumbleweeds on for another teacher. Teachers are human too and the law of averages says that they may impart useless stuff at some point to someone somewhere. However, when the art of submission is employed by the student, the teacher serves the student with knowledge and the sensei practices the wonderful art of submission as well. Sensei Cayer

Pain-A Good Teacher « Result #49 on Apr 29, 2009, 7:24pm »
Emerald Coast Martial Arts Academy Of Ft. Walton Beach Master Joe Cayer -7th Dan Life enrichment-Taiho Jitsu-Iai Do-Shotokan Karate Do-Law Enforcement Tactical Training-Women's Self Defense
Pain-A Good Teacher
We all look for a good teacher at some point in our lives. Some search their entire lives for that "one". Some of us have been blessed with several good teachers and never identify any of them as that "one" because we lack the wisdom to identify. It is said that when the student is "ready" the teacher will appear. This only refers to the student finally being ready to accept knowledge. Many times it has always been right under our noses. I would like to enlighten many of you that the teaching begins with the journey. That thirst for more advises us that you are receptive to learning. I would like to introduce you to another great teacher. That teacher is called "pain". Many of you have already met with this teacher and realize that pain is a good teacher. However some of us view pain as an obstacle, as a hurdle to our goals. Actually it is just the opposite. Pain can be both emotional and physical. Emotional pain can be some form of disappointment. Disappointment of failure or "perceived failure". Disappointment in others that you may have put too much faith in. Or maybe just disappointment in the outcome of a circumstance. We need to learn and adapt at this point in order to grow. We need to move forward. We need to fail forward. Take this disappointment and learn wisdom not to repeat the action or press forward toward your goal. This is called a life lesson. Unfortunately some of us repeat the same life lesson over and over. No learning was done or the lesson would not repeat itself. The pain often increases as anticipation of it arises. Simply because you view it as an enemy-not a friend. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times in his attempt to invent the light bulb. He failed forward. Abe Lincoln lost his bid for the senate countless times. He failed forward. The Wright brothers didn't make flight on the first try either. You may have failed your attempt for blackbelt. You do not throw away years of training and never retest just because you "failed" on that one day. No, you fail forward by changing what needs to be changed and test again and again until the goal is achieved. You may have failed at a relationship. You don't ever say that you won't ever date again (although you may initially). No you fail forward. Physical pain teaches us as well. In your practice sessions you feel pain when you are growing a muscle or pushing the limits of your focus. Painful techniques done in practice with a partner in the arts also teaches you that what you are doing will also cause pain to an offender-and that's your goal. Pain in an injury will teach you to change your movements or respond differently next time. But no lesson or teaching is done if you just quit. You must fail forward in spite of the pain. So next time you are feeling pain in any endeavor-know that pain is speaking to you. A lesson is in the making. Be receptive and listen, learn and change. Pain is a good teacher. Sensei Cayer
